Making Tax Digital: Testing Software for April 2025

As we move closer to the Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax Self-Assessment (ITSA) deadlines, we are preparing to engage some of our clients in testing the systems to ensure a smooth transition. Starting from April 2025, we aim to test the process and functionality of MTD-compatible software with selected clients.

MTD Software and Our Current Providers

Currently, we use QuickBooks, FreeAgent, and BTC Software to support our clients’ accounting needs. However, BTC Software is not yet on the beta testing list for MTD ITSA and is expected to be available from 2025-2026. We are closely monitoring updates from our software providers and hope they will roll out necessary system updates soon, including BTC’s bridging software.

Why This Matters

With MTD ITSA becoming mandatory from April 2026, businesses will need to digitally maintain records and submit tax returns quarterly using compatible software. We encourage our clients to start preparing now, ensuring they have the right systems in place before the deadline.
