The latest update from HMRC on Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax Self-Assessment (ITSA) is that it will become mandatory for self-employed individuals and landlords with income over £50,000 from April 2026. You will need to keep digital records and submit your tax returns using MTD-compatible software.
We are expecting to hear from HMRC in March, with HMRC writing directly to clients affected by these changes in April. If your income is over £50,000, you will be required to comply with MTD ITSA, and we’ll be in touch to discuss how to prepare.
If you think you may be affected or if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to discuss your next steps.
